Act Presidential Today in Honor of Presidents’ Day

What can you make Presidents’ Day mean to you?

What does ‘presidential’ really mean? The dictionary definition is the obvious ‘relating to the president or presidency’, but the connotations are far more numerous—and interesting. In the American usage of the word, we think of ‘Presidential’ along the same lines as ‘regal’: confident, poised, graceful, powerful, and definitive.

Presidents’ Day initially celebrated President George Washington’s birthday, February 22, but moved to the third Monday in February in 1971 as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, a movement to create more three-day weekends (thought to prevent absenteeism). Presidents’ Day now celebrates all U.S. presidents past and present.

While you may or may not have the day off of work, we think you should try to Presidential in all your actions today—can you show confidence, poise, grace, power, and be definitive in your actions and choices today?
