Today’s message is a simple and short reminder to take care of yourself—even if it means the people in your life and the demands on your schedule do not receive your attention when they want it and how they want it.

I love relating this to the flight attendant who instructs us to place the mask over ourselves first and then our children. If there is no “us”, then there is no one to attend to our daily lives and the people we love.

A question that I ask myself all the time is, “am I in my head or in my heart right now?” It is a question that automatically connects me to me. I want to know and be aware of where my energy is at all times.

Do I remember to ask that question all the time? No. But when I do, it is like a reset button. It connects me to my inner world and brings me back to the present moment.

That is all any of us can do: Be as mindful as we can to check in with ourselves throughout the day. Taking care of ourselves is a lifestyle. It is a daily practice. It is just as important as taking care of our physical bodies and all of our worldly deadlines.

Ask yourself the same question today: “Am I in my head or in my heart right now?” See if It helps you stay connected.
